Our Purpose

The Ostomy Association of Greater Chicago is an all-volunteer organization.  We are composed primarily of people with ostomies for the purpose of offering mutual emotional aid, support and connection to people who have learned to live life to the fullest with an ostomy; educational programs and materials to keep us informed of the historical as well as cutting edge advancements in medical technology; and advocacy to communicate our mission to the community.

Programs

Our Visitor's Program is one of our most important works.  Trained members visit ostomy patients in hospitals, at their homes or on the phone to answer non-medical questions about ostomy issues.  We publish a monthly newsletter that may be seen in an electronic version by clicking on The New Outlook .  We want everyone with an interest in ostomy surgery to be able to stay current about happenings at our Association as well as receive important ostomy information.  We have a monthly meeting that is free to attend.  Just check The New Outlook for dates and events, which feature programs of special interest for people with ostomies and allows us to get together and just talk about our wonderful new life with an ostomy.
